Daniel joined Burford Perry in early 2022. He focuses his practice on general business and commercial litigation with an emphasis on oil and gas litigation, securities litigation, and employment litigation. He has also served as lead counsel on a contested probate matter and worked on personal injury cases.
Daniel earned his B.S. with honors in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin where he was also a member of the Texas Longhorns football team. He then accepted the Dean’s Academic Excellence Scholarship to attend Baylor Law School on a full scholarship. Daniel graduated in the top 10% of his class from Baylor Law, where he earned his J.D. cum laude. During his time at Baylor, he received the 2019 Baylor Law Intellectual Property Law Award.
After law school, Daniel clerked for the Honorable Judge Andrew Edison of the United States District Court of the Southern District of Texas. Having researched and drafted numerous opinions for Judge Edison, Daniel developed excellent legal research and writing skills that he is leveraging for his clients at Burford Perry. In Daniel’s words: “Serving as a federal law clerk gave me an invaluable, behind-the-scenes understanding of how judges think and how they make their decisions.” Daniel’s go-to example of this insight was learning that many, if not most, federal judges decide motions before oral hearings are held, which taught him the importance of written practice. After clerking, Daniel joined Liskow & Lewis, PLC as an associate attorney in the oil and gas section. There, Daniel litigated oil and gas royalty disputes, breach of contract cases including those involving complex offshore leases, disputes over surety agreements, and bonding and collateralization disputes.
