Mr. Jackson was part of a panel discussion that addressed the law and strategies related to summary judgments. Other panelists were former State Bar President Lynne Liberato, and Hon. Harvey Brown, former Justice of the First Court of Appeals.

To accompany the presentation, Mr. Jackson submitted “Texas Supreme Court: Twelve Years of Summary Judgment Decisions,” which he co-authored with Brian S. Humphrey II, of Houston’s Humphrey Law PLLC.  The paper analyzed every opinion issued by the Texas Supreme Court from 2010 to December 15, 2022, that addressed summary judgment jurisprudence — 118 decisions in all.

“Motions for summary judgments are powerful tools in a lawyer’s toolkit and are filed in the vast majority of significant cases,” Mr. Jackson said. “The article and the presentation, combined, provide attorneys with quick access to the Supreme Court’s rulings regarding summary judgments, as well as advanced strategies and practices for summary judgment motions and responses to them.”

Mr. Jackson has been a repeat panelist at the Advanced Trial Strategies Course. Additionally, he has frequently spoken at other State Bar of Texas-sponsored continuing legal education events. He customarily co-authors for them an annual Texas Supreme Court Update that lawyers value for its insightful analysis. Mr. Jackson has been Board Certified in Personal Injury trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1992.
